A Small, Rural Community Protects Its Assets

Across the Basin, community halls and their parks are often the heart of smaller and rural communities. In Wasa, the Lions Club and Wasa Recreation Society are ensuring their shared facilities remain available for the people who use them each day for recreation, social gatherings and celebrations.

Keeping the Network Safe, Supporting the Community

To safeguard connectivity in the Basin the Trust is working with rural-based Internet Service Providers like Wink Wireless in the Columbia Valley to support their wildfire resilience when it comes to infrastructure and services.

Tracks for Today, Planning for Tomorrow

With close to 500 members, the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club is a busy and growing recreation non-profit. To help set tracks for their future, the Club enlisted the support of the Trust’s Non-profit Advisors Program to develop a new strategic plan.

Supporting Community Food Programs

To support the essential work of food banks and food programs in the Basin this December, the Trust is donating $5000 to each of 40 food banks, First Nations communities and Metis associations.

Community Spirit Keeps Field Thriving

The Field Recreation Advisory Association is at the centre of community life in Field, from coordinating events to running the local gym, the all-volunteer group makes sure there are opportunities for social connection, activity and engagement for everyone.
